Public Affairs Office hosts the annual U.S. Educational Exchange Alumni Event of 2009
Tea Ang Hang Tep Restraunt, Phnom Penh
September 25, 2009
On September 25th, over 90 current and former exchange students and professionals gathered at the Tea Ang Hang Tep Restraunt in Phnom Penh for the annual alumni get together. The event, which was attended by alumni from eight different educational exchange programs including Fulbright, Youth Leadership Program for Southeast Asia and the Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders programs (SUSI), was a chance for the current and former participants to share their past experiences and mentor those from the new generation. The event, sponsored by the Public Affairs Section, was also a chance for the Embassy to introduce its new alumni coordinator, Mr. Bun Sambath, to his constituency.
During the dinner the president of the Fulbright Alumni Association of Cambodia (FAAC), Mr. Theam Rottanak, delivered remarks and encouraged alumni of all USG funded programs to be generous with their time and to participate in the many alumni activities that the association sponsors.
The event was also attended by the Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission Theodore Allegra who expressed their support for the ever-growing community of exchange program participants in Cambodia. To date, the Fulbright Educational Exchange Program has seen 114 graduates since its inception in 1994.
