Ambassador Mussomeli bids farewell to the media on his last day in Cambodia

U.S. Embassy, Phnom Penh
August 25, 2008

Ambassador Mussomeli held an hour-long press conference with local and international media representatives at the Embassy on the afternoon of August 25th before his departure. The Ambassador made a short statement and reflected fondly on his three year tenure in the country.  Afterwards journalists from a variety of outlets posed questions which prompted a wide ranging discussion about bilateral relations, energy issues, corruption and the future of Cambodia in the region and in the world.  Ambassador Mussomeli also touched on the topics of oil wealth and especially the dispute over Preah Vihear. He encouraged Cambodia to work bilaterally or within the context of ASEAN to resolve the dispute, and in general stressed that the country should work together with its neighbors to help foster economic success and prosperity for all the people of SE Asia.
