Description of Program
As part of an ECA Cooperative Agreement to the Kennedy Center, the Cultural Visitors Program offers professional development opportunities to 56 emerging artists in the performing arts field between the ages of 19-30. The Arts Management Fellows Mentoring Program offers mentoring and residency experiences to twelve arts managers between the ages of 25-35.
Project activities include a two-week U.S.-based training program for foreign artists, and a 21-day professional development, orientation and mentoring program in the United States for mid-level arts managers. The programs are designed to broaden the Cultural Visitors’ artistic development and strengthen the arts managers’ cultural institutions by building sustainable linkages and relationships with American individuals and institutions.
For each Cultural Visitors Program, it is anticipated to bring participants from two to three different countries who are engaged in the same discipline. The program areas are modern and hip-hop dance, jazz and classical music performance and theater, including actors, theatre technicians and directors.
