Nonimmigrant Visas (NIV)
Nonimmigrant visas (also referred to as tourist or visitor visas) are required for all citizens of countries not under the Visa Waiver Program who intend to enter the United States temporarily for business, tourism, or study. Nonimmigrant visas are for temporary stays in the U.S. only and cannot be used to enter the U.S. to seek a long term or permanent stay.
You should apply for a visa at least 4-5 weeks before you intend to travel. Visa appointment wait times and processing vary, especially during peak travel seasons. Nonimmigrant visas for Cambodian citizens are generally valid for three months, so you should apply for a visa within three months of your departure date.
On March 7, 2014, the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh will introduce an exciting new service making it easier for all nonimmigrant visa applicants, to schedule their appointments, obtain information about the visa application process. Worldwide Visa System Issue
The Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with its visa systems. This issue is not specific to any particular country or visa category. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working urgently to correct the problem and restore full operability.
Currently, we are unable to print most immigrant and nonimmigrant visas approved after June 8, 2015. In addition, U.S. embassies and consulates are unable to process new applications submitted on or after June 9, 2015. Individuals with visa interview appointments scheduled for June 14-20, 2015, should reschedule their appointments if they submitted a DS-160 online application after June 9, 2015. Appointments can be rescheduled by following the instructions located on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/kh. Individuals who submitted their DS-160 online applications prior to June 9, 2015, should plan to attend their scheduled visa interview appointments.
