Senator Jim Webb Visits Cambodia

On Tuesday August 18th Senator Jim Webb made an official visit to Cambodia after successfully securing the release of John Yettaw from Myanmar. During his visit Mr. Webb met with the Prime Minister, Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh and with members of the opposition.  At a press conference that afternoon Senator Webb stated that he “listened in great detail to the concerns of the opposition leaders”.  He also noted that in his meetings with Minister Prasidh and the PM he was asked to help draft legislation to wave Cambodian garment duties.

Senator Webb is in the region on a five nation, two-week trip designed to invigorate the relationship between the U.S. and countries in SE Asia.  Senator Webb serves on the Armed Services, Foreign Relations, Joint Economic and Veterans Affairs committees. The Senator also serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs on the Foreign Relations Committee.
