Grant Programs

Small Grants Program

Inaugurated by the State Department in 2001, the goal of the Small Grants Program is to support NGO projects that contribute to the strengthening of democratic values and/or institutions in Cambodia. Grants are given up to the amount of USD25,000 to focus areas such as the following: combating terrorism; bolstering rule of law and legal reform; conflict resolution; civic education; ethnic, minority and women's rights; and outreach to Muslim communities. Specific program themes may vary slightly from one year to another.

Grants may not be used for partisan political activity, for general operating expenses and infrastructure costs, or to provide direct social services to populations. Proposals should be submitted in English and be complete, clear and succinct; budgets must be accurate, transparent, and calculated in U.S. dollars. The time frame of the proposals should be from approximately August/September of the year the grant is offered to same month of next year. Proposals should not be longer than one year.

One grant for 2007 was awarded to the following organization:

Cambodian Muslim Community Development (CMCD)

Project: “Voice of Cham Radio Democracy and Human Rights Open Forums”
Grant Amount: $19,800
