Democracy Is... Video Challenge.  Your Choice. Your Video.

Create a video short that completes the phrase “Democracy is…”.  You can enter the U.S. Embassy contest by submitting a CD with your video short, or enter the international contest directly at:  www.videochallenge.america.gov.  To enter the international contest, you must create a YouTube account and submit your entry via that website.  For official rules about the international contest please visit: http://www.videochallenge.america.gov/rules.html 
 
U.S. Embassy Prizes

     • First place wins a brand new hand held video camera
     • Second place will win $100.00 USD

In addition to the first and second place prizes, the U.S. embassy will add English subtitles and submit the winning two videos to the International competition for you.

The International Prize

An all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., New York and Hollywood, for gala screenings of the winning videos, exposure to filmmakers as well as the U.S. television and film industry, and meetings with democracy advocates.

The Details

     • You must be 18 or older to enter.
     • Videos can be in any style: fiction, documentary, animated or live action.
     • Videos must be 3 minutes in length or less.
     • Contestants may enter anonymously, but anonymous winners cannot collect the grand prize.
     • For the international contest, videos must be in English or have English subtitles.
     • Deadline for the International Contest is on January 31st.
     • Deadline for Embassy submisstion is January 15th.

Please submit video entries on CD to the Public Affairs Office at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, care of Aaron Otte, Public Affairs Assistant.
